THE TRIPLE CROWN TRILOGY by Kimberly Campbell

January 22, 2015.  The day I jumped into the deep end of the pool.

I loaded my wonderful Thoroughbred show horse onto the trailer and proceeded to enter the next phase of my life.

The day Triple Crown Dreams became a reality.

The path that started over two years ago was taking a new turn.  You see, I have spent the last two years writing my first book “The Calm Before the Storm.”  Writing the story about my fictional racehorse and the people surrounding him has taken me from the breeding farms of Virginia to the training farms of Maryland, from the horse auction house at Keeneland to the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs.

Along the way, I have met wonderful horse people, all compassionate about the Thoroughbreds past and present, and the industry as a whole.

I started to think, what about me?  Could I become a part of this community, not having any experience?

“The View From Behind the Starting Gate” is utilized within my books to educate the general reader to the world of horses and horse racing.   I will continue to utilize the blog in real life, to take you behind the scenes of the Thoroughbred racehorse.

With some history, some perspective, and some interesting individuals and stories, I hope to introduce a new generation of fans to the world of horse racing.

I recognize that the sport is a controversial topic, with its advocates and detractors. You may not like what I write, but know that I don’t have an agenda. I have never been intimately involved in the sport, except to cheer on my favorite at the track.

That is all about to change.  I dropped my Lilly Bear at her new home, a place where she will stay, be bred to a stallion, and hopefully have a foal in early 2016.

Our adventures will be chronicled within this blog.   We are just a small team, me, my horse, and my breeder friends, who you will meet along the way.  Please join us and follow along as we enter the Sport of Kings.   We will all learn about what it truly takes to breed, train and race a thoroughbred.

Open the starting gate, we’re off and running!

I am looking forward to hearing all about your adventures as you start this new chapter in your life! I was introduced to horse racing at the Gold Cup in Virginia last year and I am looking forward to learning more about the sport.

Can’t wait to get my hands on the book!
